The key ingredient is a non-toxic chemical
called
Heatsavr; it's been around since 1995
and has a proven track record in commercial use - commercial pool owners are
very aware of the cash savings involved!
Heatsavr has recently been packaged for the
residential pool owner. Heat$avr is filter friendly, does not affect
the chemical balance (pH, chlorine,
alkalinity) of the water, will not damage vinyl liners or any other pool
surfaces, and is absolutely harmless to skin contact.
How does it work?
Simply snip the fin where indicated and toss the fish in your
pool. The Tropical Fish™ submerges to the bottom of the pool and, as the
pressure increases, the liquid escapes. The liquid rises, and forms an invisible
layer on the surface of the water. It is 75% as effective as a conventional
solar blanket but 100% less trouble.
It works 24 hours a day, even while people are swimming.
Tropical Fish™ will last for approximately 1 month. Then all you have to do is
retrieve the fish and toss a new one in.
Does it heat the pool?
Not exactly. A pool warms up in the Spring by
storing heat energy. The water gets warmer because of the longer hours of
sunshine and the higher air temperatures. At the same time it is also losing
heat, through the sides and floor (10%) and from the surface (90%) Therefore, it
does not heat up very quickly.
When heat-loss is reduced the pool warms more
quickly. Tropical Fish™ prevents approximately 75% of surface heat-loss, more
than two-thirds of total heat-loss overall.
